VAFSMP has, at its core, a key VA management application that was developed by one of our founding members. This application allows members of VAFSMP to enhance and track their VA’s performance, as though it were a real-world Airline, and currently supports over 200 VA’s and their 2000 associated pilots. Even though the application provided the necessary functionality to support these VA’s, no VA network existed that brought the users of this application together. Hence, this meant that the next logical step was the creation of a network of VA’s that used the application – and thus VAFSMP was born.

Based on FSInn technology, VAFSMP is a virtual aviation environment which allows similarly minded Virtual Airlines to be hosted in the same environment. Most Virtual Flying platforms are based on a pilot-orientated philosophy – we add a different spin to this – we are more Virtual Airlines orientated. The VAFSMP platform is centered on catering for VA’s needs – and in turn, assumes the VA will take care of their individual pilot member’s needs. We are quite selective when it comes to allowing VA’s onto this platform, as we still aspire to our principles of fun, maturity and respect. Of course, as mentioned earlier, a central pillar, or glue to this platform is the application, VAFS, and as the community grows, so does VAFS; more releases are expected in the next few months, and these will take the community further with leaps and bounds as we spread our wings further and further.

 Finally, it is worth mentioning that a virtual environment like VAFSMP could get horribly tied down with rules, regulations and other constraining factors. We aim to avoid this – this is a game after all, and most of us escape to an environment like this, to get away from those same rules and regulations that govern our real lives. So, in essence, simplicity is at the heart of VAFSMP, however, having said that, we must mention that we do not tolerate the breaking of a few key principles: (a) respect of fellow members (b) professionalism and (c) maturity.
